Treasure In Earthen Vessels

Children want to belong. Poverty tells them they don’t. Poverty looks like a disdainful glance from a fellow student implying, “You don’t belong in this nice school”. Poverty sounds like the laughter of other children saying, “You’ll never fit in at tea time.”

Poverty has written a story in the lives of millions of children. But we know that Christ is the author and finisher of our faith. And He is rewriting the story for the girls at Lupins Africa. This new story is filled with belonging, hope, opportunity… and a mug. This past Christmas your gifts provided each girl with their own Lupins mug. This mug reminds each girl…

You belong…

Here at school with the other girls. Bring your mug and enjoy the nightly teatime. You no longer have to sit out because you lack a drinking vessel.

You belong…

To an earthly family, through Lupins Africa. You were rescued, restored, and now you can live with purpose and hope because your family is cheering you on.

And, most importantly, you belong…

To a family of believers across generations, cultures, and economic statuses. Because salvation through Jesus Christ is offered to all people. And you know, without a doubt, that God does, indeed, rescue and redeem broken vessels.

“But we have this precious treasure in earthen vessels, so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be from God and not from ourselves.” 2 Corinthians 4:7

Thank you for giving so much more than a mug.

Visiting Lupins

Recently I was able to visit the home for Lupins. We drove through the city and eventually came upon a nondescript gate—a place I would never be able to find on my own, as I get so lost in Kampala every time I visit. Doreen told me the government said not to have any...
